The number of players is unlimited and every age group can play together.

The first player starts the game by picking out an object  and saying “I SPY something….” and then names the color of the object.

The other players take turns guessing the object.

The first person to guess the object before you pass it becomes “The Spy”.  The games continues with “The Spy” spying a new object.

With younger children, you might want to keep the objects inside the car until they understand how the game works and using broad things like grass or trees for “something green”.

I Spy
Text Box: The ABC game has many variations that can be played to keep it fun.
The basic game is played by someone starting the game by saying something that begins with A, such as, Apples. Then the next person must say something that starts with B, for example, Bananas. The game continues through the alphabet. If someone is stumped and can’t think of an item they are “out” and loose a point, the game continues to the next person. Start the game with 10 points each and the one with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Variations to this game can be done many different ways with categories:
all things named have to be something you currently see out the window
places you would like to visit
a type of food
an animal
something you find in a grocery store

The My Animal game is a favorite!! We play this one all the time regardless if we are on a short car ride or a long multi-day trip. It keeps us entertained and we all learn something new…

You start the game with “My animal has…” and then give two clues.  The clues can be anything about the animal that you have chosen: size, color, habitat, eating habits, what continent it lives on, how fast it moves, etc.  For example, if my animal is a alligator, then my clues would be:

My animal has 4 legs and a long tail.

The other players then guess what your animal is.  If no one can guess the animal another clue is given.

My animal lives in the swamp.

Again the other players guess what the animal could be.  The game continues until someone guess the correct animal.

This is a great game that teaches everyone who is playing new and fun facts about our world.  Variations of the game can include dinosaurs or other prehistoric animals, extinct animals or whatever category you want to focus on.

Once you have played it a few times, your kids may even start looking for new animals to stump everyone with the next time you play!!  The more details you use in your clues the more information the kids learn...

Let the FUN (I mean learning) begin…
