If you have time, we recommend making a personalized Travel Journal for your kids to do during the trip.  We like to include maps of the route we will be taking, fun facts about our destination, other fun activities like word searches and tic-tac-toe sheets as well as blank pages for their thoughts and drawings. 

One of the best things about a Travel Journal is that you have a keepsake of your trip already done when you get home.  We like to save the Journals and add pictures from the trip for true memory book.

You can make your Travel Journal to fit your child’s personal tastes.  We have used a small binder with a front cover that allows a cover sheet to be inserted (this way the Journal gets a new look with every trip and we personalize it with each child’s name) and small spiral bound notebooks.  If you use a reusable binder it will cut down on long-term costs and is more environmentally friendly.
